Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is Lions helping Lions serve the world. Donations provide funding in the form of grants to financially assist Lions districts with large-scale humanitarian projects that are too extensive for Lions to finance on their own.

The Measles Initiative. Is a partnership of leading Public health organisations committed to the elimination of measles, Since it started in 2001, the Measles Initiative has:

· Vaccinated 1 billion children.

· Saved an estimated lives

· Dedreased annual measles deaths from 750, 000 to 164,000

· Invested more than US$800 Million in mass vaccination campaigns and other support services.

Measles is a highly contagious virus spread by infected persons through coughing and sneezing.

· Is a leading cause of vaccine-preventable deaths worldwide.

· Kills 450 children daily and causes serious side effects, like pneumonia ans blindness.

· Can be prevented with a vaccination that costs less than 64p.

LCIF & Lions Partnered with the Gates Foundation in 2010 to provide immunisations for more than 40 Million children in Africa.

· Play a key role in social mobilisation efforts:

· Television

· Brochures & flyers

· Special events

· Educating families through door to door visits

Continue to advocate for routine immunisation programs.

· An opportunity for LCIF and Lions to boost their support for the Measles Initiative and help save 157 million children

· Challenges Lions worldwide to raise US$10 million in 2012.

· For every us$2 raised by Lions, the Gates Foundation will match with US$1.

· Both the organisations combined will provide the Measles Initiative with a total of US$15 million.

Donate as little as US$20 to support our International Foundation as a contributing member.

If you wish to contribute a larger amount, for the equivalent of:

(1) $50 a pin and silver wreath will be awarded

(2) $100 a pin and gold wreath.

You can donate to LCIF at the same time as honouring a fellow Lion, or any other person or organisation who has given your club support beyond the normal levels, with the presentation of this prestigious Award

A one off donation of US $1000, or graduated donations totaling US $1000 over a 5 year period, are all that is required.
